Pure Kung Fu Fun! Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
This is one of the quintessential kung fu films, in other words if you haven't seen this, you haven't anything yet! Joseph Kuo brought us this independent classic that proves you don't need a Shaw Bros. budget to bring martial arts magic to the screen. Cory Yuen, one of the members of the famous "Yuen Clan" choreographs this film in such a way that you can't help but be in awe.

Even though the film is a little light on plot it has a fun and adventurous feel that resonates throughout the film, making it enjoyable to watch over and over again. All things considered it was a film that shows Jack Long and Li Yi Min's talents perfectly and effortlessly. In other words, I enjoyed this film thoroughly and think Joseph Kuo is one of the best independent chinese directors.

By the way, 1978 WAS THE BEST YEAR FOR KUNG FU MOVIES! (Drunken Master, 36th Chamber of Shaolin, AND the 7 Grandmasters!)

top independant flix Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
7 Grandmasters is one of the top independant kung fu films of all time. There is no Shaw Brothers or Golden Harvest label here, there no mainstream kung fu actor also ( at the time ). But this movie is right up there with the top productions. It was filmed in Taiwan where almost all the independant production were made. Of course the budget is not on par with the Shaws but the action is incredible and very acrobatic. The Long family ( Mark and Jack ) are exellent martial masters. For sure in the top five independant kung fu film ever made. This US version is good, not as good as Celestial release but still the best version out there for english fans.
