As one of Stephen Chow's earliest feature films, the fairly straightforward maverick-cop movie Final Justice (1988) gets a tremendous boost in hindsight from the subsequent celebrity of its young supporting star. Just don't expect heaps of mo lei tau mugging; this is Stephen Chow before he became Hong Kong's King of Comedy. Chow's fans should be impressed nonetheless by his surprisingly dramatic performance as a troubled young car thief who forms a bond with a loose-cannon policeman (Danny Lee, City on Fire, The Killer) out to nail a pair of bank robbers with a connection to Chow. International cinema fans will be forever glad that Chow went on to greater, sillier things, but Final Justice stands as proof that the master of mo lei tau could have held his own with the Tony Leungs and Leslie Cheungs of the acting world any day of the week.
Special Crimes Inspector Cheung (Lee) is the best at what he does, but his contemptuous disregard for protocol lands him in hot water with his new boss. When proper procedure gets in the way of Cheung's attempt to bring down a notorious crime boss (Shing Fui On, God of Gamblers, The Blue Jean Monster), the frustrated detective pins his hopes on a young hood, Ah Wai (Chow), with a dangerous underworld connection. But Cheung's biggest challenge of all will be befriending Ah Wai, who understandably wants nothing to do with the cop who busted him!

Cheung Tit Chu (Lee Sau Yin) was a senior Inspector of Special Crime Investigation Department in the Police Force. Cheung likes to make decisions and execute duties independently. Though this was not pretty approved by the authority. Cheung's smart and courage still enabled him to be the best crime fighter whthin the region. However, Cheung's brilliant character brought him into conflicts with his new superior, David Law and his work was always hindered by te latter. Morn than that, cheung also had to face pressure from dealing with a ransoming case of four vicious gangsters. With the help of Ah Wai (Stephen Chow), a young thief who was unluckily involved in the case, cheung found it easier to trace the evidence. This tough case was eventually solved by Cheung and Wai and the two men became very good friends.
