| Quentin Tarantino (Kill Bill) and Robert Rodriguez (Sin City) pay homage to the grindhouse films of yesteryear with their own B-movie double bill. This throwback bonanza consists of two feature-length horror films - Tarantino's Death Proof follows a murderous stuntman (Kurt Russell) who takes to stalking women, while Rodriquez's zombie feature Planet Terror is about a motley group of survivors who do battle against a zombie virus that has infected their small town. Complete with four fake trailers from Robert Rodriguez, Eli Roth (Hostel), Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead), and Rob Zombie (Halloween), Grindhouse is an indulgent, entertaining, and downright epic exercise in exploitation, serving up blood and schlotz in double portions.
This Japan release is the first time the US theatrical version of Grindhouse has been available on DVD, complete with both films and the fake trailers and retaining the deliberate throwback scratched-print look.
