2007年香港各大流行音樂頒獎典禮終於塵埃落定，陳奕迅成為大贏家，個人橫掃20個獎而獲「四台聯頒傳媒大獎」，此外，他於10月25日起至11月5日共12場的《Moving On Stage 1演唱會》，門票開售以來反應熱烈，已三度加場。忙於籌備即將舉行的演唱會的Eason，以2007年度新專輯《Listen to Eason Chan》來先會樂迷，他親自為唱片當監製，兼寫了三首歌。唱片以舞曲為主題，十首新歌中率先曝光之作有「Crying in the Party」，黎小田作曲，黃偉文填詞，歌詞中寫出時下派對參加者的情緒喜怒哀樂。

陳奕迅《Listen To Eason Chan》

一個當紅巨星如何能突破自己的框框或給樂迷新鮮感，從來都是一個具難度的課題，也從來沒有多少個當紅歌手敢在自己最紅的時候，不斷以自己的專輯作試驗，陳奕迅卻是當中敢試的一例。自從他轉投新藝寶以來，他一改英皇時代的商業流行﹑略帶流麗的口路線，在《怎麼樣》﹑《What's Going On》大玩深邃﹑深沉風格，為港﹑台兩地樂迷帶來了新鮮的感受。來到2007年底，他的新專輯《Listen To Eason Chan》又會交出甚麼曲風和貨色呢？難道是「富士山下」或「黑擇明」的續集？答案是：一首首不同風格的舞曲。

在正舉行的個唱《Moving On Stage 1演唱會》中加插了大量舞蹈元素的Eason(陳之洋名)，在新專輯也統一地加入了大量跳舞作品，並找來不少新相識舊拍檔一起參與其事。個人認為，Eason今次這張跳舞專輯除了為配合個唱而推出外，另一大重要任務為表現一種實驗精神，他似乎想以身作則，在K歌當道的主流樂壇引入更多不同類型的音樂，慢慢培養樂迷收聽不同類型歌曲，態度相當值得可敬。同時，這也是延長他本人歌唱生命和可能性的一個好方向，可謂一面鑿壁兩面光。

言歸正傳，碟內的歌曲水準尚算可喜，多首不同類型的舞曲縱說不上很甚麼突破性，但卻成功刺激樂迷的聽覺神經，讓人有強烈的收聽意慾及伴隨節奏擺動。再說，今次的歌曲亦算成功用舞曲為載體，附載不同的主題﹑價值觀和內容，也屬相當可喜。另一方面，多首歌曲也隱隱重現了Eason未為人父前的桀驁不馴性格，活潑盡情，因此，對部分年輕樂迷來說，新碟或許比上兩張專輯共有吸引力也不足為奇。至於Eason今次的歌唱表現也一如意料地好，他對每一首歌曲的投入感俱高，是叫人聽得痛快的一大原因。

先說一些非舞曲。主打歌「Crying In The Party」找來老牌音樂人黎小田作曲，填詞則由黃偉文負責，歌曲刻意走懷舊路線，著重旋律的優美性及氣氛的感染力，而不重編曲的創新性，甚至刻意把歷時性遺忘，試圖打動更多不同層面的樂迷歡心。平心而論，歌曲的效果尚佳，有強烈的動人力量，也尋回了粵語流行曲昔日光輝時期的味道，至於Eason的演繹也不俗，感情處理富層次，並非照書直讀，比華星年... [看更多]

White Tee (Main Album)

Well, I've read the album sleeve of Eason's latest here, got my ears open, ready and willing, and after a complete listen to the 2 CDs showcased here over the weekend, I can conclude that this is one mega hit album! Certainly high energy in the main, but featured on the main album here are a fantastic range of mainly electronic dance songs, all having great infectious melodies and high caliber electronic hooks. Some numerous alternatives are showcased here, also, such as the Latin American "Mario Party" salsa opener, one riveting rock track and two excellent ballads in the form of "Crying in the Party", and the great bonus track by Eason and Andy Lau "Brother" - to make one fullfilling and top sounding album. Vocals of Eason's are great, too, and for me this is the first time I have had the pleasure of listening to Eason's music, than normally catching the movies he appears in. Talented in both, most definitely! A lot of the tracks here also hit the right cord with me, as they have strong affiliations to some of the early 80s synth pop and alternative stuff I was into then, and this CD won me over in that respect. But, nevertheless, this is great and immediately appealing album in its own right and the juxtapositions of sounds and songs are a nice fresh appeal to those (for me anyway) 'New Romantic' daze in the 80s! I loved the Depeche Mode/Vince Clarke styled electronic dance tracks with "Flash" and "Concert Live Gig", which are two great synth pop numbers. (Also heard two excellent similarly styled electronic tracks on Stephy Tang's "Stephilosophy" CD).

I'll briefly mention the tracks here, cause I just know certain people who may cast their eyes over the influences and styles this album contains, would just love to hear this. If you are a synth pop music fan - you just want to get this and if you haven't tried that yet - give Eason's album here a spin (after you've bought it of course) as its one of the best examples I've heard, so far, of Canto Synth pop you can get!

Track 1 "Mario Party" - Salsa type Latin American pop ditti (similar to Twins "Samba" a bit)
Track 2 "Tropical Island Serenade" - soft electronic soul/disco melody, light dance number
Track 3 "Flash" - this is for me where the album knocked me for six! Great electronic 80s synth pop with infectious electronic rhythm, fast and edgy (reminded me of UK 80s stalwarts Depeche Mode and Erasure). Great!
Track 4 "Concert Live Gig" - another great and 80s styled electronic piece, with hand clapping synths, industrial dance beat (plus a bit of Ultravox sound in the mix).
Track 5 "Waterloo Station" - more electronic sounds, moderate rhythm and a nice bouncy synth pop track
Track 6 "Crying in the Party" - this is where the electronics have a bit of a rest and with a change of tone here. Excellent and emotive ballad. Nice vocals and song.
Track 7 "Maniacal Revolution" - fast rock and roll guitar edged number (soft rock and fast - not heavy). Brilliant melody!
Track 8 "The Chameleon" - synth pop electronics returneth- mainly upbeat melody, with a bit of a Numan type back ground synth line. Unusual, but still very upbeat.
Track 9 "Wheel of an Era" - Great sweeping syths track, with electronic piano and dark edged synth line. Great vocals form Eason. Like this track a lot!
Track 10 "What do you Want?" - I know this may sound strange, but this one reminds me similar of closing songs to some of Akira Yamaoka's music to the "Silent Hill" games. A bit more lighter but good, too!
Track 11 " Brother" - This bonus song features lyrics by Andy Lau and is one wonderful and moderately paced ballad and great finish to a magnificent album.

There isn't one track I didn't like out of these at all, either!

Black Tee (Remix Version)

As this is more related to the electronic music and technical side of this two disk set, I have focused more on the music sound than Eason's vocals aspect - as in itself, this is a great alternative addition to this 2 disk CD set.

Utterly and totally what you would expect in the remix / dub department, this is a thoroughly and strongly top heavy electronic remix of the "Listen to Eason Chan" CD. Although ladled with lots of multi track electronica in the dance and 80s/90s pop groove, this still leaves Eason's main album intact to the core, without submerging the music into a totally different form, and complements the main album. This is just an absolute excellent set of remixes, too, with layers of bass beat synthetics, techno pulses, and heavily industrial dance music rhythms, that you feel by all of this that you could disappear into the third eye, by all the multi layered sounds here. Kudos to all the mixing desk guys involved and of their techno wizardry here (Harry Potter would have a hard time being as wizard as these guys!).

This whole remix version dubs are 80s / 90s dance style, which again gave me a nostalgic feel for bands I listened to in the 80s. (Human League, Vince Clarke, New Order, Orbital, Gary Numan, Depeche Mode, Bill Nelson, Visage, Bomb the Bass, Ultravox, Yazoo, Cabaret Voltaire, that sort of thing). Remix of tracks 3, 4, 7 and 8 were undoubtedly for me bringing UK synth guru John Foxx to mind by the industrialized synth moods and effects here. Fantastic sounds here, too! With Eason's remix CD here, I cannot imagine anyone sitting still for long by this mega fest of electronics, and by the quality of these mixs can be enjoyed by electronic dance and electronic synth pop music fans alike.

A great big 5 stars for this album and to Eason to dish out something energizing and fresh to you guys. And thats 5 stars for each CD! I have certainly enjoyed all of this (okay, it sings a bit too nostalgically in my case, I guess), but this is quality stuff in its own right. If you really like electronica dance music, you'll love this I can assure, and with Eason's music alongside, you get a totally wonderful double serving of CD loveliness here! This is a magnificent set and strongly recommend it! You'll dance the blue's away, thats for sure!
