Descriptions:
The Canon Speedlite 430EX flash unit replaces the Speedlite 420EX flash model as the one of the most functional and powerful flashes in its class. The maximum guide number has been increased to 43/141 (ISO 100, in meters/feet), and the 430EX flash becomes even more versatile with the addition of manual flash output adjustment and a built-in wide panel, which increases the minimum focal length coverage from 24mm to 14mm. Thanks to the new circuitry, full-power recycle time now is approximately 40 percent shorter than its predecessor at just two seconds with NiMH rechargeable AA batteries.

Color Temperature Information Transmission
430EX transmits colour temperature information from the flash to compatible EOS DSLR camera1. The camera then uses this information to optimize the white balance setting for each individual image. This function works with the camera set to Auto WB or Flash Mode.
Matching sensor size
When mounted to the latest EOS digital cameras such as the EOS-1Ds Mark II, EOS-1D Mark II N, EOS 5D, EOS 20D or EOS 350D cameras, the Speedlite 430EX receives sensor size information (full frame, APS-C or APS-H) from the camera.1 The flash's zoom position automatically adjusts accordingly, thus optimizing flash coverage and reducing the amount of charge required per shot.
New interface
Introduction of a LCD and a set of buttons enabled fast and direct control over settings such as flash exposure compensation. A bounce lock release button provides immediate control over the bounce head angle. 6 custom functions can be pre-set to accommodate different shooting style.
Shorter Recycle Time
The flash recycle time is approx. 40% shorter than the 420EX. The flash recycle time is as short as 0.1sec while flash count is as high as 1400 when Ni-MH Batteries are used.
Wireless flash
430EX can be configured as a salve unit. With the use of Mater Unit 580EX, 550EX, MR-14EX, MT-24EX or ST-E2, wireless multi flash photography made easy.
Fully featured for full control
Features include 1st and 2nd curtain flash synchronization, flash exposure bracketing (FEB), exposure compensation (+/-3 stops in 1/3 or 1/2 stop increments), high speed sync Flash and manual adjustment of flash output.
L bracket
The optional Speedlite Bracket SB-E1 allows the flash unit to be mounted to one side of the camera. Designed specifically for press and wedding photographers, it removes the harsh unnatural shadows that can appear to one side of the subject when shooting in portrait orientation with camera-mounted flash. Flash batteries are replaceable without removing the unit from the bracket.
