2007年中MBC首播的《咖啡王子》(又名︰咖啡王子1號店)，在南韓大受歡迎，掀起一陣「咖啡王子」熱潮。其成功之處是劇中屬亞洲同性戀電影風潮下異軍突起之作，編導以節奏明快的手法，明顯地希望突破偶像劇的框框並衝擊電視觀眾對同性戀的防線，最終捉住了同性戀的曖昧感覺。
《咖啡王子》改編自李善美同名浪漫小說，當主軸故事脫下了高恩贊(尹恩惠飾)與崔漢結(孔侑飾)的斷背情之後，其實內裡是以偶像劇的糖衣包裝——男女主角也是偶像劇模式下的人物設計，男的名門後代，儘管玩世不恭，卻對愛情專一；女的經歷楚楚可憐，但對生命和愛情絕不放棄的精神。當癡情男遇上了活潑開朗少女，最終麻雀變鳳凰，皆大歡喜Happy En... [閱讀全文]
